The Four Noble Truths
The Noble Truth of Suffering;
Birth is suffering, aging is suffering, sickness is suffering, death
is suffering, sorrow and lamentation, pain, grief and despair are suffering,
association with the loathed is suffering, disociation from the loved is
suffering, not getting what one wants is suffering.
The Noble Truth of the Origin of Suffering;
It is craving, which produces renewal of being, is accompanied by
relish and lust, relishing this and that; in other words, craving for sensual
desires, craving for being, craving for nonbeing.
The Noble Truth of the Cessation of
Suffering;
It is the remainderless fading and ceasing, the giving up, the relinquishing,
letting go and rejecting of that same craving..
The Noble Truth of the Way Leading to
the Cessation of Suffering;
It is the noble Eightfold Path, that is to say: right view, right
intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort,
right mindfulness, and right concentration.
